Jewish advocacy and activism

This workshop focuses on transforming social media from a space that schools tend to avoid into a powerful educational-community resource. Through building a communications team jointly led by students, teachers, and the school community, we will learn how to turn social media into an arena for positive influence and empowerment.

What will you experience?

Participants will undergo a practical process of establishing a school communications team aimed at creating a proactive, positive Jewish narrative on social media, rather than merely responding to challenges. Through simulations, role-playing, and hands-on experience, we'll learn how to build a safe space that balances public visibility with student privacy protection. Together, we'll experience how to develop continuous learning capabilities among team members - students, teachers, and community - including content research, processing, and adaptation for different audiences. We'll practice how to engage all parts of the school community as active partners in the initiative. Participants will leave the workshop with a practical action plan for establishing the team in their school.

Who should participate?

  • Jewish Studies coordinators and teachers

  • School administrators involved in student leadership

  • Educators interested in empowering student advocacy

  • Teams seeking to strengthen Jewish pride and resilience

Why this matters

A jointly-led communications team:

  • Enables the school to address social media challenges proactively

  • Transforms social media from a source of concern into a space for educational growth

  • Builds resilience through positive presentation of the Jewish narrative

  • Develops digital leadership and citizenship skills

  • Creates open and constructive dialogue between teachers, students, and parents around social media

  • Turns social media into a space that connects all parts of the school community: students, teachers, parents, and alumni
